Edumed Trust is a Kenyan Christian charitable Trust established in 1996 with the sole objective of supporting bright students from needy families with tuition fees for their Secondary Education. In supporting such students, Edumed not only helps them realize their life aspirations but also helps reduce poverty and crime that is rampant amongst the uneducated.
As of December 2010, Edumed had supported 226 students in various secondary schools out of which 126 completed secondary school studies. A number have also completed university education and secured employment.
The first beneficiary graduated from the University of Nairobi with Bachelor of Science in Mathematics on 1st September 2006. Others have since joined various institutions of higher learning locally and one is currently studying medicine in the Czech Republic.
Edumed support is extended to all who qualify, irrespective of their ethnicity, race or religious background. Edumed believes that in supporting higher education, students are empowered, enabling them train in careers of their choice, that in turn strategically position them in the job market, enabling them make a decent living not just for themselves but for their families as well.
Edumed raises 80% of its budget from individuals. We continue to search for friends and new partners and are grateful to record growth every year. Our important growth plan remains the same , individual fundraising as many Kenyans appreciate giving back to the society.
