Over the years, EDUMED has held annual luncheons which have played the role of informal fora allowing the students and partners to mingle and chat. The main drawback to these sessions, however, was limitation in time. Thus was born the idea of organising a retreat which would allow us ample time to share with, guide and counsel the students on various issues. The first students' retreat was in August 2009.
Most of our beneficiaries come from very challenging backgrounds and over the years we have found student retreats and luncheons very vital to forging a sense of community within the EDUMED fraternity.
The retreat besides giving the students an opportunity to take a brief break from their rigorous academic schedules is meant to impact their lives positively by encouraging them to stand out and be the light of their respective families and schools. In the retreat program are various sessions on life skills, career choices, community service, coping mechanisms as well as general and specific guidance and counseling.

During this year's event, we hosted our first Edumed Alumni day and it was quite a joy for us and for our past beneficiaries to re-unite again.
